Opening day of the 9/11 museum located in lower Manhattan was a somber opening, however the mesmerizing Pavillion of jagged glass-and-metal by Snøhetta welcomed the 7,000 first-day visitors. The architecture set a mood for reflection and honor. From the entry pavilion to the heavy security screening at the front of the museum, visitors finally meet the tridents of the Twin Towers, and the memorial beyond.

The 9/11 Museum grounds include the pavilion, a reflection pool and the below-grade museum, designed by Davis Brody Bond.
