VIATechnik is a leading BIM and virtual design & construction firm that provides building information modeling services to electrical contractors, low voltage trades, and electrical utility contractors. Using 3D BIM modeling software alongside our proprietary BIM management tools, we utilize our clients’ project information such as design drawings, cut sheets, fabrication practices, and many more to deliver a data-rich electrical BIM model. The software tools we use include Revit, Edgewise, Navisworks, Precogs, and Revizto.
With BIM, electrical contractors can build 3D models of power systems, lighting, duct banks, power feeders, branch circuits, and many more. Through a coordinated model, electrical contractors can then avoid material waste, and also prefabricate their projects and save time and cost in the field.
Better overall project coordination
Faster pace to completion
Ability to detect potential issues before they are realized in the field
Organized tasks and schedules for field team execution
Prefabrication
We take the following steps to ensure that the electrical system models we build are constructible and represent design intent:
Create a project-specific BIM execution plan
Conduct a constructability review and client construction practices review
Set up the project model
Create a base model
Coordinate clashes against other trades
Produce layout sheets for the field
Update model and drawings based on addenda/revisions
Depending on the agreed-upon scope, our electrical BIM services may include the following:
Electrical model creation to the required LOD
Clash report generation and coordination
Coordination drawings
Prefabrication models
Spool drawings
Point cloud as-built modeling
Family creation
Bill of materials (BOM) generation
When clients work with us early on in the project and properly scope out the required services, they can expect the following from our team:
BIM utilization to discover and resolve issues
Design validation to confirm design intent
Clash avoidance and constructability implementation
Spatial coordination and code review
